Iran and Oman sign maritime border agreement

TEHRAN – A maritime border agreement was signed between Iran and Oman on Tuesday at the presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in the headquarters of Oman’s Interior Ministry.
“We are very happy that this agreement with a southern neighboring country is signed in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Zarif told reporters.He also stated that maritime border agreement will strengthen relations between Tehran and Muscat.
He went on to say that there is “very good” ties between the two countries which will become “deeper” and more “serious” by signing this agreement.
The agreement shows that Iran is willing to have strong ties with all neighboring countries, specifically those in the Persian Gulf region, the chief diplomat said.
Zarif arrived in Muscat on Tuesday for a two-day trip that also took him to Kuwait where the conference of the OIC foreign ministers is being held.
